2. Consider Ehrenreich's ethos. What is the central argument of this piece? In what ways does her personal experience build her case?

3. Ehrenreich incorporates a range of research and statistics into her essay. Which statistical examples surprised you? Which are most persuasive? Least persuasive? Why?

Community Assignment

What's up everybody? I hope everyone is having a good weekend. For my community narrative, I plan on writing about my family. My family is relatively large and they have always been a big part of my life. My family is the most important community that I am a part of, so what better to write a paper about then them?

    Sean, before you approach this topic, you may need to spend some time identifying exactly what traditions, values, and behaviors your family shares that distinguishes you from the typical nuclear family commmunity. I do think you can use this topic, but you should think carefully about what characteristics differentiate your family from other families.

    Do you think you will be able to find sources to incorporate into your piece as research? Could you can find some information about your family's history or genealogy? I do think you can use this topic and create an effective narrative, but you need to clearly identify and be able to support what community standards your family thrives off of.

    I definitely know where you're coming from, Sean. My family is huge in my life, and they are by far the people I love the most. I do agree with Nicole regarding the research, however. Because you're family is so personal to you, it may be a little difficult to find sources for your research portion of the assignment. I still feel you should use this topic, but you may need to dig a little deeper for your sources. Good luck finding sources!

    Ya I can understand what you say about a big family. Im half Italian so I know what its like. We always have family dinners together and I feel like a good part of my life is always being spent with them since we all live so close to each other. I think you should try to find a more specific idea about your family though such as what you do for family traditions or holidays. Have fun
