My definition of the educated

What does it mean to be educated?
It means that you have been taught information and skills that make up your overall knowlegdge about things around you.
Who decides what it means to be educated?
Society as a whole compiles a generic standard for what it means to be "educated". Different cultures can have different definitions of that standard. i.e. Educated in America means going through many, many years of school and/or training, while in a 3rd world country being educated may be having learned skills to survive.

  1. I think that your responses are thorough, straight, and to the point. I like the answer to the second question the most because you compare America to 3rd world countries. It's a great international comparison on the subject of education. I also like how you support the idea that societies determine what educated means because it is true. A society/government determines minimal standards, like I had to take SOL's (Standards of Learning Tests) in high school.
