1. To be educated one must have gone through some sort of of educational process or training. It is possible to be self educated and not all forms of effective education comes from the traditional textbook. To be educated one must be able to contribute to society.
2. Society decides who is educated. We judge people based on their educational training and assign them roles to fulfill in society.

  1. I agree that there are many forms of education and that people are often judged on there level of education but i don't feel that general society decides who is educated. The government which creates the curriculum for students in public schools to learn is the authority which ultimately decides who is educated based on completion of their program.

  2. I agree that society does determine if you are educated or not. The society in America is a society based on judgment and a need to be unique. If you have someone who went to Yale it will appeal to future employers opposed to someone who attended a Community College.
